Protecting your privacy is crucial to us, which is why we are committed to treating your personal data fairly and worthy of your trust.
FREQUENCE Running will take all reasonable steps to protect your information.
We believe it is essential to inform you about how we use your personal data, what your rights are and our obligations.
Therefore, and because we have made the choice of transparency, we encourage you to read this privacy policy carefully.


Our privacy policy applies to our FREQUENCE Running mobile application available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. This policy is written in French. In the event that it is translated into one or more foreign languages, only the French text will prevail in the event of a dispute.

Article 1 : General definitions and purpose

1.1 General definitions

All words or expressions starting with a capital letter are used with the meaning defined in our terms of use

1.2 Purpose

This privacy policy aims to provide you with information about us, as well as the nature, scope and purposes of data collection and use, providing you with information on the processing of your personal data.
FREQUENCE Running is aware of the concerns of its Users and the processing of your personal data takes place in compliance with European Regulation 2016/679 transcribed by Law number 2018-493, of June 20, 2018 relating to the protection of personal data ( GDPR)

Article 3 : Personal data we collect

3.1 General

FREQUENCE Running processes the personal data that you, as the User of the Application, make available to us by using the Application, as well as those that third parties provide to us (hereinafter "the Data").

3.2 Personal data

Here is the Personal Data that we collect, directly or indirectly, from you:

Profile data - the data relating to the User profile are those entered when registering for the Application: gender, email address, first name, Password, age, height, weight, time references, possession of a racing license on foot or triathlon, jogging, training days. They are strictly necessary and compulsory for the creation of the User Account and for the operation of the runner's support service offered by FREQUENCE running. In particular, the email address may be used by the Platform for the administration, management and animation of the service.

Identity information from third-party authentication service - When registering with a Facebook or Apple account, this is the credentials provided through the account authenticated on those platforms. The e-mail address (Unique identifier in FREQUENCE Running) is retrieved from these third-party accounts and allows identity verification. It is stored in the Platform for the management of the User account.

Image and File information uploads - Following uploads are concerned : user profile picture, sharing pictures and GPX/TCX files. The profile picture allows for personalization of the User's account and is not mandatory. When a user shares a workout, a photo captured from his or her phone may be requested on an optional basis to personalize the running experience. Finally, the user may optionnaly import GPX/TCX/FIT files in order to retrieve later the related running routes in his or her history.

Strava ID - In case of synchronization with the Strava platform, specific authentication is required. The Strava identifier retrieved during this authentication via the Strava portal is stored in the Platform. This identifier is necessary to retrieve training activities from the Strava platform via a secure protocol. Deactivation of Strava synchronization is possible at any time in the settings of the Application.

Garmin User Access Token - In case of synchronization with the Garmin Connect platform, specific authentication is required. The Garmin User Access Token retrieved during this authentication via the Garmin Connect portal is stored in the Platform. This identifier is necessary to import/export training data from/to the Garmin Connect platform via a secure protocol. Deactivation of Garmin synchronization is possible at any time in the settings of the Application.

Polar User ID and Access Token - In case of synchronization with the Polar Flow platform, specific authentication is required. The Polar User identifier retrieved during this authentication via the Polar Flow portal is stored in the Platform. This identifier is necessary to retrieve training data ("exercices") from the Polar Flow platform via a secure protocol. Deactivation of Polar synchronization is possible at any time in the settings of the Application.

Location information - The Application collects and processes geolocation information when the User uses the GPS tracking functionality to track a training session. This functionality allows the storage of the track, the calculation of speeds and training times. This information is returned vocally and visually via the Application at regular intervals according to the sequences to be performed. Precisely, the calculation of the average speed and the distance covered makes it possible to optimize the indications to follow the desired training. We do not track the location of your device when you are not using the App, however, in order to provide optimum accuracy, we must track the location of your device when the stopwatch is running, even if the Application is in the background and / or the phone is on standby. If you want to stop tracking your device's location, you can do so at any time by changing your device settings. The location in the background requires the consent of the User by requesting an explicit authorization. In case of refusal, the GPS tracking will work in degraded mode. For more details, see Article 8 of our terms of use dealing with location sensitive data.

Social information - they include: information concerning your relations with other Users. If you expressly allow us to access your phone book and enter your phone number, we will compare the phone numbers of your contacts with those of Registered Users and display a list of friends. Apart from your telephone number which we keep, the relationships obtained by the telephone contact book are not stored in the Platform. Only the relationships obtained by express invitation via a link sent to an external mailbox are stored in the Platform after approval by the invited User (s) friend (s). Any User can hide or block a relationship: either directly in the Application, or indirectly if the friend is deleted from the phone contacts list. The community space allows you to display your friends' training sessions and offers motivation functions to optimize emulation between athletes, the key to individual performance.

Device information - this includes: information about your smartphone or tablet that gives us an idea of your browsing behavior or the use of your device. Your device information is collected by our Application. They include the referral URL (if you came to our Application through another site or an advertisement), the type of device you are using, versions and operating system.

Activity information - includes: exercise data (such as the start and end times of your workouts), sensor data (including time, pace, distance, calories, pace, not). We use them to improve your training, improve your preparation, predict your performance goals and improve your user experience.

Medical Information - FREQUENCE Running may collect or infer medical information. Certain medical information can be deduced from sources such as age, in particular maximum heart rate or even VO2 Max. This standard value makes it possible to propose zones of heart rate or intensity to be observed by the User during training. Other medical data can come from third-party services (GPX / TCX / FIT files, Strava/Garmin/Polar synchronization) such as the evolution of the heart rate during a run, the calories consumed, the weight. This information is transmitted to FREQUENCE Running without additional processing.

Information on training preferences and goals - these include race goals: date, distance and location of an official race for which the User wishes to be optimally prepared, information on the training program (eg start date, training program, associated training activities). This information is essential for the generation of a tailor-made training program. Once achieved, an objective and its result are archived in the Platform for later consultation and statistics.

3.3 Data provided by third parties

Sign up through Facebook or Apple

If you have opened a FREQUENCE Running Account through your social media account, we will receive the following information:

Facebook friend list

We will receive information about your friends on Facebook if you expressly allow us to access it. We will use this information to update your friend list in the community area, but we will not store this information or the resulting relationships.

Information about training activities imported from Strava

Strava sync automatically imports information about your training activities (supported workouts : run, ride, virtual run, virtual ride, treadmill). The selection of training data to be imported from Strava is made at the express request of the User throughout his use of the Application. Only the training data selected by the User are processed and stored in FREQUENCE Running. The User can delete them at any time. The data retrieved is activity information (distances, speeds, circuits, GPS coordinates, heart rate, stride cadence, calories).

Usage Data transmitted to Strava

Once Strava sync option is enabled and configured, Strava may monitor and collect certain use data and information related to the use of the Strava API Materials, and Strava Platform in connection with FREQUENCE Running ("Usage Data"). Strava may use such Usage Data for any business purpose, internal or external, including, without limitation, providing enhancements to the Strava API Materials or Strava Platform, providing developer of user support, ensuring compliance with Strava API Agreement, or otherwise.

Information about activities imported from Garmin Connect

Garmin sync automatically imports information about your training activities (supported workouts : run, ride, treadmill). The selection of training data to be imported from Garmin Connect is made at the express request of the User throughout his use of the Application. Only the training data selected by the User are processed and stored in FREQUENCE Running. The User can delete them at any time. The data retrieved is activity information (distances, speeds, circuits, GPS coordinates, heart rate, stride cadence, calories).

Information about trainings exported to Garmin Connect

Garmin sync automatically exports your training sessions (running & cycling). Only workouts scheduled in the time window D-1 D+10 are exported. The user can delete the exported workouts from Garmin Connect at any time. The exported data are the minified title of the session, its date as well as the content of the split exercise in the form of a Workout (Garmin specific template to structure the exercise with steps and repetitions).

Information about training data imported from Polar Flow

Polar sync automatically imports information about your training activities (supported workouts : run, ride). The selection of training data to be imported from Polar Flow is made at the express request of the User throughout his use of the Application. Only the training data selected by the User are processed and stored in FREQUENCE Running. The User can delete them at any time. The data retrieved is activity information (distances, speeds, circuits, GPS coordinates, heart rate, stride cadence, calories).

3.4 Use of the service

Google Firebase

We use Google Firebase (Google service and API) to analyze and continuously improve the use of the Application. Statistics allow us to improve our services and make them more interesting for Users. In special cases where personal data is transmitted to the United States of America, Google is certified by the EU-United States of America Privacy Shield. Firebase's "Cloud Messaging" service is used to configure and deploy our push message campaigns. We do not transmit your Username (email address) to Google Firebase. Firebase's "Crashlytics" service is used to receive, analyze logging data related to errors or crashes from our Users' devices using the Application. The basis for the processing of Data is our legitimate interests.

Branch SDK

For our Application running on iOS and Android, we use the services of the Branch SDK (Branch Metrics, Inc. 1400 Seaport Blvd, Building B, 2nd Floor, Redwood City, CA 94063, info@branch.io). This allows us to track and analyze the marketing channels or sources that generate the best results to direct Users to download the Application via deep links, while helping us to understand how Users use our Application. The basis for the processing of Data is our legitimate interests.

Article 4 : For what reasons do we process the data ("Purposes")?

4.1 Operation of the Application

FREQUENCE Running processes your Data to facilitate your running training by offering you an optimal, personalized, simple, reliable and efficient user experience when you use the Application.

Provision of services. To operate and provide application services, namely

Customer assistance. In order to investigate, respond to your requests and resolve any service issues you may encounter. We may use your first name, email or phone number to contact you directly about a question posed to our customer service team. By having access to your profile data (age, level, goal, number of sessions per week), it is easier to identify your training context in order to offer you an appropriate response.

4.2 Business needs

We process your Data to manage the needs of our business.

Performance. We process the Data to improve the generation of our training plans, analyze and improve the use of the Platform, as well as to protect the security and integrity of our infrastructure.

Research and development. We process the Data to conduct research for the development of application evolutions in order to provide you with a better experience with even more personalized features while targeting the increase in the number of Users and their engagement in the Application.

Email / push message marketing. With your consent, the Platform will send you personalized marketing emails or push messages containing information on topics relating to our training programs, the promotion of official partner races, personalized advice as well as details of the features submitted to the PREMIUM subscription.

We would like to inform you that we evaluate your behavior as a User when you read e-mails, by means of web beacons or web beacons. The information generated by such elements is then associated with your e-mail address. With this information, we are able to create a user profile to personalize our marketing emails / push messages. We collect data about your clicks on our emails or on the links you click.

At any time, you can withdraw your consent to marketing emails and push messages, by clicking on the link at the end of the email or by changing your device settings regarding push messages.

Your Personal Data is not shared with any third party advertising platform.

4.3 Compliance and application of regulations

Conformity. We process your Personal Data in order to comply with our obligations and to comply with all the laws and regulations applicable in Europe (GDPR).

Application of regulations. We process your Data if we believe it is necessary to ensure security, or to investigate fraud or other possible violations of our Terms and Conditions or this Privacy Policy and / or attempts to harm our Users.

Article 5 : Sharing of Personal Data

5.1 General

We share Data with third parties

We attempt to notify you of legal requests concerning your Data when we believe it is appropriate, except in cases of legal prohibition or by court order, or when the request is of an urgent nature. We may challenge such requests if we believe they are excessive, vague or do not emanate from a competent authority.

Special categories of personal data, such as those relating to location, weight, height or heart rate, will never be shared with advertisers or similar entities.

5.2 Our Services

Profile. Your profile is visible to your friends on FREQUENCE Running, by default. This means that as soon as you follow friends on a reciprocal basis, those people can see your profile. In your confidentiality settings, you can adjust the visibility of your profile for each friend (block a "friend", see our terms of use Article 9 : Community features, definition and confidentiality). Please note that your first name, profile picture and current goal are visible to your friends at all times. This is necessary to allow others to send you messages of encouragement or congratulations.

Training flow in community space. Our services allow the visualization and consultation of information by your friends with whom you are in contact in the community space. Certain actions, such as following a training session, starting a training plan, choosing a new goal, switching to the Premium subscription, will automatically be visible in the Training flow concerning your profile. By default, only you and your friends will be able to see your workout stream. You can hide an activity at any time (see our terms of use Article 9.3 : Confidentiality).

5.3 Service providers

Service providers. We share your information with third parties in order to access analytical, marketing and development services. Service providers will have access to your information to the extent reasonably necessary to perform their duties on our behalf. They are required to refrain from disclosing them or using them for other purposes. We use subcontractors such as Google Firebase, Mailjet, Mailchimp and Mandrill. Special categories of personal data, such as those relating to location, weight, height or heart rate, are not and will never be shared with these providers.

5.4 Sale of information

Limited and anonymized. FREQUENCE Running undertakes never to sell your personal information, except in anonymized aggregate for statistical purposes for behavioral studies on training and sports performance.

Article 6 : How do we protect your data?

6.1 SSL protocol

We use the SSL security protocol for all data exchanges from the Application on the device (phone or tablet) to the Platform, but also for all calls to third-party services.

6.2 Secure host

To protect your data, we use Amazon AWS services and host the data in an Amazon RDS database in Europe with an SSL certificate ensuring the encrypted transmission of your information from our application servers to the database.

6.3 Backups

To protect the confidentiality and the completeness of your data, their existence, backups of the database are very regularly carried out to ensure a high level of security.

Article 7 : Withholding of information

7.1 Retention period

We will have to keep your data for the duration during which you have an Account. If you are an EU User and you stop using our services without asking us to delete your data, we will keep it for a period of 36 months after your last interaction with the Application or opening of an e-mail sent by the Platform linked to the management of the account, for promotional or marketing purposes. Beyond this period, we will only keep the Data if this is legally necessary (due to the application of warranty, limitation or retention periods) or otherwise mandatory.

7.2 Account deletion

If you decide to delete your Account, all Data held by FREQUENCE Running concerning you will be deleted, except for the following:

Any request for deletion will not affect the Data, if the retention is legally necessary, for example for accounting purposes, in particular those concerning PREMIUM subscription purchase orders.

Article 8 : Your rights

8.1 Access rights

You have the right to obtain confirmation as to whether or not your Data is being processed by us, and if so, more specific information about the Data in question. This more specific information relates, among other things, to the purpose of the processing, the categories of Data, the potential recipients or the duration of storage.

8.2 Right of rectification

You have the right to obtain the rectification of inaccurate Data concerning you from us. If the Data that we process does not prove to be correct, we will rectify it as soon as possible and inform you of such rectification. Please note that you can correct most of your information in the settings.

8.3 Rights of deletion.

You have the right to delete the Data that we store about you. If you decide to do so, please go to your Account settings in the App and delete your account. If you are unsuccessful, please contact us through the Email Address. As a security measure, we will send you an email asking you to confirm the deletion. We will delete your Data once such confirmation has been received. Please note that your phone may continue to contain Stored Data after deleting your account, unless you uninstall the App permanently.

8.4 Right to object

You have the right to object, at any time, to the processing of Data for which our legitimate interests constitute the legal basis for the processing, including profiling on the basis of these provisions. You also have the right to object to the processing of Data for direct marketing purposes.

8.5 Rights to lodge a complaint

You are entitled to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, if you believe that the processing of the Data violates applicable law.

Article 9 : Information on the Privacy Policy

FREQUENCE Running reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. Please consult it from time to time. If we change this Privacy Policy, the updated Privacy Policy will be posted promptly and, if we make any material changes, we will provide a visible notification. If you object to any of the changes made to this Privacy Policy, you can exercise your right to object, file a complaint or simply stop using the Application by deleting your Account.

You can always look at the updated privacy date to see when we last made a change to it.
