Un second groupe de jeunes gens ne pratiquant pas d\u2019activit\u00e9s physiques r\u00e9guli\u00e8res. Ils ont ensuite compar\u00e9 les r\u00e9sultats des deux tests.<\/p>\n<p>Les coureurs, en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, auraient de meilleures connections c\u00e9r\u00e9brales (interactions entre les diff\u00e9rentes zones du cerveau) dans plusieurs r\u00e9gions du cerveau. Notamment dans le cortex pr\u00e9frontal qui sert \u00e0 coordonner des fonctions cognitives sup\u00e9rieures. Il a codirig\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9tude avec Gene Alexander, professeur de psychologie qui a men\u00e9 des recherches sur le vieillissement du cerveau et la maladie d\u2019Alzheimer au sein de l\u2019institut du cerveau Evelyn F. Mc Knight.<\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9clic \u00e0 l\u2019origine de cette collaboration provient d\u2019un constat&nbsp;:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Il y a eu une profusion d\u2019\u00e9tudes montrant l\u2019impact positif de l\u2019activit\u00e9 physique sur le cerveau ces 15 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Cependant, la plupart ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es sur des adultes \u00e2g\u00e9es&nbsp;<\/em>\u00bb&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #000000;\">explique le Pr.<\/span><\/span> Raichlen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Cette interrogation sur de potentielles cons\u00e9quences de l\u2019activit\u00e9 physique sur le cerveau des jeunes n\u2019avait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9 en d\u00e9tail. Pourtant, le sujet est important<\/em> \u00bb <span style=\"color: #000000;\">poursuit le Pr.<\/span><\/span> Raichlen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab<em>&nbsp;Il y a des choses que vous faites au cours de votre vie qui impactent votre cerveau \u00e0 mesure que vous vieillissez.<\/em> Il est donc important de comprendre ce qui se passe dans le cerveau \u00e0 des stades moins avanc\u00e9s de son d\u00e9veloppement.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Avec leur \u00e9quipe, les professeurs Raichlen et Alexander ont compar\u00e9s les r\u00e9sultats des tests IRM d\u2019un groupe d\u2019hommes pratiquant l\u2019endurance aux r\u00e9sultats de jeunes adultes n\u2019ayant particip\u00e9 \u00e0 aucun \u00e9v\u00e8nement sportif pendant au moins un an.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019un \u00e2ge comparable (18-25 ans), les participants ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 sur la base d\u2019un IMC et d\u2019un niveau d\u2019\u00e9ducation similaire.<\/p>\n<p>Les tests ont permis de mesurer les connections c\u00e9r\u00e9brales des deux groupes au repos. Les participants \u00e9taient \u00e9veill\u00e9s mais ne r\u00e9alisaient aucunes t\u00e2ches pendant le test.<\/p>\n<p>De pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes recherches ont montr\u00e9 comment les activit\u00e9s n\u00e9cessitant des fonctions motrices complexes (comme la pratique d\u2019un instrument de musique) ou une coordination importante entre les yeux et les mains (comme la pratique du golf) pouvaient modifier la structure et les fonctions du cerveau.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, peu d\u2019\u00e9tudes ont permis d\u2019observer les effets d\u2019une activit\u00e9 sportive plus r\u00e9p\u00e9titive. Des activit\u00e9s n\u2019exigeant pas une utilisation pouss\u00e9e des fonctions motrices du cerveau&nbsp;comme le running.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #1dd3d1;\">DEs r\u00e9sultats \u00e9tonnants<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats des professeurs Raichlen et Alexander ont mis en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019impact que le running a sur le cerveau. Leurs observations montrent que les activit\u00e9s r\u00e9p\u00e9titives pourraient en fait avoir un effet similaire \u00e0 celui d\u2019activit\u00e9s complexes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab <em>Ces activit\u00e9s que les personnes consid\u00e8rent comme r\u00e9p\u00e9titives et simples, impliquent en fait beaucoup de fonctions cognitives complexes. Comme la planification et la prise de d\u00e9cisions. Elles pourraient avoir des r\u00e9percussions positives sur le cerveau&nbsp;<\/em>\u00bb <span style=\"color: #000000;\">explique le professeur Raichlen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Un des questionnements majeurs que soul\u00e8ve l\u2019\u00e9tude reste de savoir si ce que nous observons chez les jeunes adultes (par rapport aux diff\u00e9rences de connections c\u00e9r\u00e9brales) aura un quelconque b\u00e9n\u00e9fice plus tard dans leur vie<\/em> \u00bb <span style=\"color: #000000;\">t\u00e9moigne le Pr.<\/span><\/span> Alexander.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #083252;\">\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Les zones du cerveau o\u00f9 nous avons observ\u00e9 le plus de connections chez les coureurs sont \u00e9galement les zones qui sont impact\u00e9 par le vieillissement. <\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #083252;\"><em>Cela permet de se demander si \u00eatre actif \u00e9tant jeune peut avoir un potentiel b\u00e9n\u00e9fice.
